Change Over Time

Overview: To understand a dynamic system, it is essential to be aware of what is changing over time and the pattern of those changes. Using the behavior-over-time graph (BOTG) tool allows you to visually represent the changes that occur over time within a system. This section provides tips for using BOTGs to represent change that occurs within systems in the curriculum and in the organization.

Lessons exploring the patterns/trends of change within a system are applicable in any curricular or organizational areas in which dynamic systems are studied or worked within, e.g. mathematics (change in savings account balance), science (change in predator/prey populations), literature (change in a character trait), group dynamics (change in collaboration skills/efforts).
