Using BOTGs to Deepen Understanding of Literature and Develop Life Skills
In reading class at the beginning of the school year, 6th grade students were asked to read pre-assigned children’s books that illustrated different life skills. Some of the life skills explored were, persistence, patience, effort, caring, and integrity. In small groups students created a poster of a particular life skill. Part of each poster was a Behavior-over-time graph illustrating the how the character exhibited the skill during the story.
